Rob Veltre Jr.

Rob has 34 years experience with developing and delivering mission critical software systems in both the Defense and commercial sectors.

Rob began his career as a Software Systems Engineer for the Link Flight Simulation Division of the Singer Company in Houston, TX. There Rob developed a reputation for hard work, attention to detail, and a keen awareness of the interdependence of software and hardware systems.

In 1988, Rob joined the staff of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. In the Software Process Program under Watts Humphrey, Rob helped to create the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) and he lead the first ever software process assessment at Air Force Space Command. Under Nelson Weiderman’s Real-Time Scheduling in Ada project, Rob contributed to work that provided a framework for using the Ada tasking model in place of traditional cyclical executives for scheduling concurrent threads of execution. His most buy avanafil online influential experiences came under Michael Rissman’s Software Structural Models project. These projects provided the foundation for process discipline and software patterns that he would refine throughout his career.

In 1995, Rob co-founded Inmedius, Inc. with colleagues from Carnegie Mellon University. Inmedius provides both commercial software applications and built-to-specification solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense. Rob ran the Defense segment. An early project, the Meteorological Anchor Desk, appeared as a case study in the book “Software Architecture in Practice” by Bass, Clements, and Kazman. Later projects included web and thick-client situation awareness applications for Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal operators (including two adaptations for small vessel tracking and maritime interdiction operations) and a revolutionary digital data logging solution for the Navy’s nuclear propulsion program. In 2012, Continental Data Graphics, a subsidiary of the Boeing Company, acquired Inmedius.

Currently, Rob serves as Sr. Vice President for Technology at Shoulder 2 Shoulder.
